NFL, NBA, and Major League Salaries 2011
With the NFL embroiled in a contentious lockout and the NBA likely on its way to labor troubles this summer, this infographic provides a snapshot of the financial picture each league faces. As you can see there's the greatest disparity between the haves and the have–nots in baseball, a sport without a salary cap, whereas there is not much of a difference whatsoever between the most expensive and least expensive teams and players in hockey. It's important to keep in mind that there are just 12–15 basketball players per roster, 23 hockey players, 25 baseball players and a whopping 53 football players (that's a lot of NFL jerseys) on an average roster, so that explains why NFL salaries are so much higher than the other leagues despite possessing a lower annual salary per player.
