The life that Josh Hamilton has lived in a book deal and Lifetime movie all rolled into one. Maybe rolled is a bad choice of words. Yet Hamilton’s struggles with drug use after being drafted No. 1 overall in the 1999 MLB amateur draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays is well documented. Despite being a five-tool player and a can’t-miss blue chip prospect, he did miss, badly. And now he’s back with a vengeance and a calm, going about his business of sobering up pitcher after pitcher with his immense power and ability to hit anything. Celebrate the new and improved lefty natural with FansEdge.com and our collection of Josh Hamilton jersey and tshirts and other Texas Rangers merchandise and apparel.
Hamilton rebounded through his new-found faith and finally made his Major League debut with the Cincinnati Reds on April 2, 2007—eight years after he was drafted out of high school. He proved to be one of the Reds best hitters, but Cincy traded him to the Rangers. That gave him the opportunity to man centerfield without having to spend time on the bench. He became an All Star over the next three years, won a couple Silver Slugger awards and the pinnacle was winning the 2010 AL MVP after a stellar season in which he won the AL batting title and took the Rangers to the World Series.
