The Memphis Grizzlies were originally founded as the Vancouver Grizzlies in Vancouver, British Columbia during the NBA's expansion into Canada in 1995. The Grizzlies migrated south to Memphis in 2001 where they have since experienced a number of ups and downs. After finishing the 2006-2007 season with the league's worst record, the Grizzlies bounced back, entering the 2011 NBA playoffs as the eighth seed. The team triumphantly captured their first playoff series in franchise history when they beat the top seeded San Antonio Spurs in game six of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
