Since 1967, the Indiana Pacers have been the pride and joy of professional basketball lovers across state of Indiana. As one of the founding members of the ABA, they soon became one of the most successful teams in the league, winning a record three championships before joining the NBA in 1976. Heading into the 1987 draft, the Pacers held the 11th pick and many fans believed that they would select highly regarded Indiana University product, Steve Alford. The Pacers however, opted to select Reggie Miller out of UCLA. The move turned out to be a heralded one though, as the Pacers made the playoffs 15 times and the Eastern Conference Finals six times during Miller’s tenure with the team.
With the Pacers team now filled with a flurry of young stars, they reached the playoffs during the 2010-11 season and are still in pursuit of their first team NBA championship.
